University-Affiliated Music Therapy Internship Opportunity

Keys for Success is proud to offer a University-Affiliated internship opportunity to qualified individuals. To date, we’ve hosted interns in affiliation with St. Mary of the Woods College, Ohio University, West Virginia University, and University of Louisville.

Founded in 2008, Keys for Success is based in Cincinnati, OH and has a team of more than 10 music therapists providing music therapy services throughout the Greater Cincinnati community. We have three Keys for Success clinics—Batesville and Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Blue Ash, Ohio—where we work with clients, many with development or intellectual disabilities, through one-on-one and group sessions.

Senior Music Therapist Briana Seim, MT-BC, serves as the primary Internship Director. KFS interns will receive guidance from a team of supervisors as well as supervision from Director of Music Therapy and KFS Founder Lindsay Menninger, MT-BC.

KFS interns typically work four clinical days weekly (Monday-Thursday) and have one paperwork day that may be done at home. Interns will lead 5-7 sessions per day—with most being individual sessions. Clinical day hours will be between 9am-6pm depending on the supervisor’s schedule. Interns also participate in group supervision and team meetings which are scheduled monthly or bi-monthly on Fridays.

KFS interns are responsible for writing reports, tracking sheets (documentation), and 1-2 treatment plans in addition to running sessions (with training of course!). Interns will complete a project and in-service, at minimum. Some universities also require interns to complete a case study.

WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY

Keys for Success will accept up to two interns per cycle. Exact start dates can be flexible, but generally begin in May, June or July. The typical application review period is from October through January, but you may submit your application at any time.

If selected for an interview, you will then be asked to complete follow-up materials including videos demonstrating musical skills (guitar, voice, piano) along with answering scenario-based questions.
