Erin recently attended a Neurologic Music Therapy training seminar. Here she shares the techniques that she learned, as well as how she is using them in her music therapy sessions.
Favorite accessory percussion instrument? I love to use the tambourine in sessions. It makes a great target for working on gross motor skills and can make a variety of sounds to work on sequencing and listening skills. I also love using the cabasa for sensory input and its unique sound.
What is your favorite part of being a music therapist?
My favorite part of being a music therapist is the connection I get to make with people without having to use words; the music becomes the language with which we communicate to each other.
